Thinking Big

"This exhibition offers a microcosmic view of contemporary British sculpture: 85 small scale works by artists born in seven different decades of the previous century, produced in every conceivable material - from glass and bronze to rubber and photographic paper. It can be perceived as a celebration of the range and variety of sculpture in Britain, viewed Lillput-like from on high by the visitor whose size will be ten times that of most of the objects on show. But it is also, more fundamentally, a kind of creative laboratory where the processes of realising a sculpture are opened up both physically and conceptually and where the scale of thought and ambition is often immense."
